Most women desire to have firm and large breasts that would make them look more beautiful and attractive. The advancement in surgery has made it possible for these women to turn their dreams in to reality. Today, there are many breast enlargement treatments available all over the world that can help women increase their breast size or simply improve their shape.
The history of breast implants dates back to the 19th Century – the period when the first ever breast enlargement treatment was performed by injecting paraffin into the breasts. This particular treatment, however, was not quite successful and resulted in to breasts which were hard and lumpy – a big turn off!
Later, the paraffin-injection method was discarded because of its side-effects such as breast infection and lump formation. The surgery clan then decided to opt for the method of Fat Transfer. This technique of Fat Transfer involved transfer of Fat from different body areas/parts into the breasts. Again, the results were not very satisfactory as the injected Fats were absorbed and utilized by the body, the result being swollen and lumpy breasts.
Up until the 20th Century, different methods and materials were used for breasts enlargement but none of them reaped any fruitful results.
Some of the materials that have been used in the history to add volume to female breasts include:
- Ox Cartilage
- Polyvinyl Sponge
- Polyethylene
- Ground Rubber
- Polyurethane Sponge
- Soya Bean Oil Implants
Unfortunately, none of the above mentioned materials was suitable to be used in breast implant treatments as they often led to infections, lumps and swellings, causing unnecessary trouble to the patient.
In 1961, the History of Breast enhancement was changed as the first ever Silicone Breast Implant took place. The original technique was to implant a Silicon Gel bag into the breast, and has since been very widely used.
Recently there has been a fall in the prices of breast enlargement treatments due the wide availability of cosmetic surgery. As for the size of augmentation, the trend has moved from Large Augmentation Sizes toward smaller breast sizes as they look more natural and are more attractive to the eyes. The average price and breast enlargement cost per treatment ranges between £2,995 - £5,000 (excluding Consultation Charges which may vary depending on the service chosen).
